Wiinami is a tribute to the famous wave artpiece of Japanese painter Hokusai « Kanagawa-oki nami-ura ». While living in Japan for three months, I realized that the representation of this image was often present on wallpapers or in advertisements for technological objects. So I wanted to make homage to this work by imagining an animated and calm version of the sea in the print, only waving when a wood log is shaken on the surface of the Earth or in the hands of a visitor. The idea of bringing the log to life is inspired by Japanese animism.
